She'll run around the wheel I have set up in her cage. Then, she stops running 1/2 through. The wheel is still moving, though. She holds on until she gets to the top of the wheel, and then she lets go. Then she comes flopping back down to the part where she started at. She keeps doing it, and keeps falling on her head. Lol. Is there anything I can do to get her to stop being so stupid?

Also, when one of the bigger mice runs on the wheel, she'll jump on, hold on, then do the same as she does when she's on her own, and let go at the top...

I just don't want to have a brain dead mouse. Lol. I know that sounds stupid, but she keeps doing it.

Made me laugh and I thought to ask here. :P

:) animals do things for a reason. especially since she repeats this often, she must be getting a kick out from it - the free fall fun, the attention she gets from you, the way her head get scratched upon landing... ( remember how kids like to jump about..)

okay the above answer may sound a little like the rest of the advice, so one question - does your mouse also rub her head against other hard object, e.g the cage? If she does, maybe you can take a look closely at her head, and check if there are bites/itches/wounds which may cause her frustation, leading her to hit her head to relieve the itch. just a thought.

but i'd say if all's fine, let her play!

Mouse's are pretty smart, I think if it was hurting her she would stop. Reward her with food, for not being stupid on the wheel. Take away the wheel for a day and see if she gets the message. If all else fails, buy a mouse helmet or get a padded wheel.

She's not stupid--- she's brilliant! She has figured out an exciting and novel way to have fun on an otherwise mindlessly boring treadmill. Try finding other toys and entertainment for her --- make her environment as diverse as possible.
My daughter had her brother build her a huge mouse cage--- then she created all kinds of natural 'jungle gyms' of leafy branches, empty paper towel rolls for tunnels etc. Those were some happy mice!

shes not stupid! i used to have two mice, and they would take turns giving each other rides to the top. Its hilarious to watch. theres no harm being done. if they were hurting, they would have stopped.

mice make great pets. hope this helps.

get your mice a ladder! they always come running up it when they hear me, looking for cheerios.

Stupidity may not be the cause of her strange actions, because even the dumbest of animals recognize and avoid pain.

It's possible that your mouse enjoys falling on it's head...

Kinky.

haha thats cute. I don't know what to tell you to get her to stop doing that. Sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh because there is not much you can do for her.
