If you aren't real and don't exist, then how did you manage to imagine anything?

Also, you could argue that "figment of the imagination" is an arbitrary term, since there is no clear difference between reality and illusion anyway.

I know nuttings answer is a good one. I agree with it..

solipsism might be true. but as he said; what is it that would make it 'real' or 'imaginary'.
i have to wonder, what could ever be real?.. or also, not real.
. indeed, i may be a figment of your imagination answering your question(really, it could very well be so). but who is to say that the imaginary "me/I" is either 'real' or 'not.' but clearly you "are" recieving "an" answer from me. so wether i exsist inside your head, or here infront of my computer, it would seem, that I exist indeed. and that appears to be without question.
it is all very odd, to me too.

and then finally, what when we 'snap out of it' and view 'true' reality, how much more 'true' could it possibly be than this reality which appears to be so 'true'.perhaps it would take you to a higher,if you will, level of solipsism. and then see how this could go on for ever.
here, in such a context truth appears to be irrelevant, arbitrary, and illusory. but who is to ever say.
an important point from this is that;a fairy tale, 'fiction', history, , a video game ect, may all possibly be equally 'real', as long as they do not 'not' exist. :)
this answer may raise more thoughts than it pacifies.

as for official theories against solipsism, i'm not sure.
