What is more important to you in a reltionship or marriage and why? What is the difference between passion and romance? If you had to choose between the two what would you choose and why? I want feedback and ideas on this. Should be quite interesting to say the least:) What lasts longer in a relationship between the two?

I think passion and romance are too intertwined to be differentiated. But love is not directly equivalent to either of these. Love can exist for long periods of time without these factors, since relationships are always evolving and changing. I was always told that if you marry and only fall in love once, you won't be happy. You must fall in love with each other over and over again, as you both change with time.

Passion is short lived, but very strong. Romance lasts longer if your lucky enough to get a man who knows what the word romance even means. I think that both are equally important but for different reasons. If I had to choose only one it would be passion.

Passion and romance go hand in hand! I am in a marriage right now that the passion and romance are amazing! I would have to say if I HAD to chose it would be passion. Passion can fuel romance when romance has fizzled. More than anything, when my husband washes the dishes, or makes the bed, I find him the most sexy.

I think it is a combination of many things: romance so that you feel like you're on cloud 9, passion so you have conviction with your loved one, respect of commitment and trusting relationship, and time to spend all of these factors. Otherwise it's boring. As far as passion or romance is concern one cannot exist without the other.

Answer to your first question : Honesty and communication. WHY? Because you need something that is solid to build on.Second ? I believe you have to have some form of a romantic start before passion can be entertained or measured. Third ? Passion vs Romance . I believe one needs to live off the other, maintaining some form of a balance to be fueled by both parties, at a well monitored heart felt pace.Fourth ? .Take your pick either one if not communicated, felt or rationed wholeheartedly

I first and think a couple first need mutual respect and caring. I think a couple should like each other before love, passion, and romance enter the picture. I think two people should really get to know and like each other before the hormones kick. That is the problem with a lot of couples these day. By the way passion and romance are intertwined and you can't have one without the other.

I have a wife that is passionate in bed and needs no romance.
So speaking from experience.

99% of romance is crap from girly magizines trying to sell you crap.

Real passion is free and priceless.

Sidenote: The lady above is wrong, infatuation fades passion does not need to. Good passion is part of the respect between a couple. Respect with out passion is too much like a glass of water -- in fact to me it just looks like a lazy lover's excuse.

i think passion is the most important.
romance is nice and it's used to show a person that you love and care for them, its the flowers, the table-for-twos, the birthday surprise and the outward manifestation of love.
passion, on the other hand, is not something you control or decide upon, its the force behind your feelings and your actions. passion doesn't have to mean a steamy session in bed, passion drives you to stand up for your partner, to stand by them, to believe in them and to trust them. passion is also the more dangerous of the two, because it can convince you wrongly, and can blind you to otherwise obvious truths, like when a woman can't leave her abusive partner, for example.
romance can last longer, because each partner controls it, and consciously thinks about how to make romance.
passion, however, comes and goes with chemistry, mood swings, and the weather, but can be so much more powerful.

They are both the 'cherry on top' to compatibilty and respect. You have to have them to differentiate a romantic relationship from a platonic one, but a relationship is a coming together of so many important factors it seems nonproductive to fixate on one or two of them. And BTW, I'd go for passion, when it's passionate, it's romantic by default. I could live without candle lit dinners and flowers...but I better be getting laid.
