Yes.
It is hard to help others if we can't help ourselves. By understanding how to help ourselves, we understand how to help others.
It is human nature to "do what's best for number one." But once "number one" is happy with their particular situation, he can look out for others.

It might be more necessary to be able to help ourselves as if we are not able to help ourselves concerning and issue, we unlikely can help somebody else with the same issue. This is what I found out.
So if people come to you for help concerning some problem or a question and you have the same problem and you cannot help yourself, how can you be able to help another person?
It is only necessary to help ourselves if we need this help.

if we have learned how to help ourselves we might assume that in the process we would also have discovered how to free ourselves from our own distractions in needing to meet our needs and that we have the developed the skills that may benefit others in learning how to do the same.

Give me you the answer.
We have a learned way to think that we are in distres, that we have to help ourselves to help others after, if such it's your will, you will never overpass yourself, look at the trees, thay don't need to help themselves, to help others after, they do what they are supossed to do. Such thing you should do too.

In generally ...yes! You must help yourself before others.I've met lots of people which were so good at advising people, but when they had problems they had no idea what to do.I'm sure that there are lots of people in this situation. From the wish of helping others they forgot to help themselves!

Yes.
Helping yourself helps yourself, and helping others helps yourself, too.
My kids learned at a very young age to go into the community and help people who have it worse than we do.This has enhanced their self esteem & helped them (and me) appreciate what we have. You don't have to be rich to help others, just have willingness.
