The military was trying to develop a truth serum. Both in the US and in Nazi Germany, during the 40's. It was Timothy Leary (or how ever you spell his name) in the 60's that developed D-Lysergic-Asid-Dylthemite. and called it LSD for short after he tripped out when it was absorbed into his pores. The US military then try to use it as a truth serum and tested it on its own soldiers (mostly black). They later tried to sue them, when they found out they where part of an experiment. The officer where compensated and got a formal apology.
