For an interview, I would strongly suggest a crisp, bright white shirt and perhaps the grey/blue tie your wife suggested or a solid blue tie. Don't go whacky with a "fun" tie though. Make sure it is conservative. Do not go into an interview with a red tie on. Red represents power and you don't want to come across almighty and powerful in an interview, but at the same time you don't want to not get noticed either, which I feel the blue shirt and blue/grey tie would do to you. My husband is Vice President for Bank of America and he suggests (and I agree) you should wear a blue tie & definitely a white shirt with your grey suit for the interview. Save your red ties and colored shirts for after you get the job.
Oh one more thing...make sure your shoes are shined. Don't go in with old, worn shoes on!!!!!
Good Luck with the job!

Light grey shirt with dark grey tie. . . .or maybe a power tie like red. Go to a high end men's store and talk to the sales guys there. They know.

I think either of those would look nice.
Personally i'd go for the light blue with the blue/grey tie but thats just because blue's my favorite color
Just pick either one of those - whichever you like better

I would suggest the wife's idea for the interview. Safe the bro in law's boldness for your first day -- good luck!

I'd say the blue because red is a risky color for interviews.

Stick with light blue, preferably plain but you could also get away with one that has a faint pattern on it.
