organists do you wear shoes when you play? what type? Are leather soled penny loafers appropriate organ shoes?

I learned to play barefoot, but bought a pare of leather soled penny loafters to try to learn to play with shoes, as my current organ teacher insists that it is not proper to play barefoot........ please advise me, ORGANISTS ONLY ANSWER PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, not an organist, but a full-time barefooter. Perhaps the website in the source has some material you can use to convince your teacher that it's fine to play barefoot so you won't have to worry about finding shoes. :) Good luck!

Well my mother, as well as I play and she normally wears high heels and then takes them off to play, I play with leather sole dress shoes because I asm used to them but it all comes down to what you are most comfortable with. Besides as long as you sound good who cares? Hope this helps, Brodster
