The only reason I believe it is not an issue we can really fix is because the changes over time are in such small increments we will not know how bad or where to change our behavior and people who make tons of $$$$$ from fossil fuel (oil) have muddied the issues so they can continue to be wealthy until all the oil is used up, like Haliburton man, Cheney.

don't get excited about electing anyone to protect you all the way back to Wilson the business of America is business. The people who run this country are the same robber barons from the turn of the last century, they have just gotten better at being sneaky. Why is there no universal health care, Do you know the USA, Liberia and Ghana are 3 of the 5 countries on earth that don't have paid pregnancy leave Why has Exxon made billions in the last year or two???Wealthy people run this country, not those who stand in lines at elections.

They are looking to the future, but every person in the media is so over-focused in one direction, they don't even read all the correct information.

If they said it was hopeless, they are being somewhat realistic. The scientists do not want to admit that this global warming is a natural occurrence on earth. We've been warming since the end of the Ice Age. Nearly this entire planet was covered with ice and it began to melt and recede long before man was here to do anything to harm it. What they don't look for is when it will cool again.

There are more contradictions as well. The U.S. Geological Survey stated that the oceans have receded 4" since that last earthquake in Japan. Now the scientists are trying to tell us that it's going to increase 7" or more in the next century. So, I wonder in the back of my mind who's more full of it. Since the USGS is no longer authorized to make statements without first having them read, they are not going to publish lies.

Science is not a solid fact. They also tried to convince us we were going to be hit by a giant asteroid and that never happened either. What they really give is a 'best guess'...I want to see ALL the reports as to their proof.

Why because an Anthropomorphic (man made) cause for global warming has not been conclusively established. Recently the press announced with much fanfare, that scientist are now convinced that man is causing Global Warming the report citing this conclusion was only a summary, the final report is to be released in 6 months. Now this is where it gets tricky, I have seen sections of the full report, and guess what, they point to evidence that contradicts the summary findings. Findings that must be reported because the data was legitimately compiled. Welcome to the world of 'Scientific Spin'. Agenda driven science is bad science. Tragically most non-scientist can't make that distinction. Never look at just a summary report. Because all the facts are not in evidence in them, especially with a hot topic issue like Global Warming The real culprit in "global climate change" is the sun: Long-term studies (since 1760) document that fluctuations in the intensity of solar radiation are closely correlated with warming and cooling trends in the Earth's temperature.

I think that's the big flaw of American government. Congress is being persuaded by too many corporations and oversees multinationals that only care about the growing, globalizing economy and NOT about the environment that everyone, even their industry, depends on! If just one corporation profits from damaging the environment, then all corps will do the same, and the environment is just a second-hand concern that they don't think will vanish. They are so wrong. Unfortunately, these corporations find a way to get a member into the political scene.

If it's hopeless then large corporations don't have to spend any money fixing it. Until climate change starts affecting the bottom dollar of business don't expect any changes in government policy. After all, it's business that funds politics.

It is not hopeless, just not quick to be remedied. The actions that we take immediately will slow the change and begin to reverse in a century.
