I did it for years you need to get your pocket book full of money and a good drop lot,A new truck is best.Old trucks generally work but they end up letting you down that's why used tow trucks are for sale they get used up.Insurance is required by most state and towns in the sum of a million dollar policy is a norm.A ad in local phone book will cost from about 200 mo to over a thousand a month depending on add.You will need to make friends with local shops and price your tows at a very competitive rate.In general it is not a get rich job .It took many years for us to get ahead .You will also want to get on the city ,county and state tow roster. Good luck it would take me hours to tell you the dos and don`ts. No credit unless a long term establishment.deal with cash only. You can`t afford to start off giving credit to all you will get burned so be aware

I would suggest try working for one first, then decide if you still want to start this bussiness. The first thing you must do is write-up a bussiness plan. The library has books to help you. Then you apply for a bussiness license in your state, but make sure you find out your states rules and regulations for this type of bussiness. Some states require background checks. Then you have two choices. You can purchase the first truck on your own or you can apply for a loan. I would suggest a SBA loan this loan is gauranteed by the government if your bussiness goes under. Plus lenders, including banks, have to give out so many Small Bussiness Loans in the community in which they operate branches. The SBA website is very helpful it also has the forms on there that you can print out. There are also grants that the government gives out to help you start your own bussiness. This is just the first step. Good Luck.

with a tow truck? Really it takes a lot of sleepless nights, a bank full of cash to tide you over, police contacts help a lot, fenced lot to lock up towed vehicles. and a good lawyer. That is just for starters.
