the only place on my hard drive to insert a disk is for burning cds or dvds so how would i insert one on the removable disks or what is the purpose of them ?

These removable disks are for when you insert things like sd cards and pendrives into your computer.

Removable Drives = Memory sticks / external drives / some cameras / ipods

You can install these drives in your usb port

The purpose of removable drives extra storage i.e. I have a 200Gig drive full of music, photos, music videos, movies, operating systems, applications for everything and Games. I use this for backup programs that I upload onto other computers (and download theirs while im at it ;). I also have a 1Gig USB memory stick which i use for transfering smaller files quickly from one PC to another i.e. documents & mp3's

Removeable disks are anything that can be removed from the unit, that are not pare of the primary drivers.
