first off, make sure the power is off and unhook the cable from the pc. then there will be 4 screws holding the drive in the drive bay....at this point don't undo any cables. when you get the screws out, push the drive forward til the cables only have alil slack in them. thake and notice where the cable plugs into the motherboard. now go ahead and remove the power cable from the drive. don't pull on the wire but rather rock the power cable plug side to side gently while pulling back. it might give you some trouble because of the tab on the bottom of the plug. once you get this out, remove the cable from the motherboard noting it direction in the board. by this i mean which side the cable ribbon is on the plug. the reason i am giving you this way to remove the cable is because it is very easy to get the plug hooked up wrong in the drive. now do this for the other drive you are removing from your computer to put in the other. to replace them back into the system, side the drive and cable into the drive bay. remember which way the ribbon pluged into the motherboard and plug this in, then the power cable. the cable plug in with the lil tab down. once this is done, move the drive so it is flush with the case and replace the screws. once this is all done, power the machine back on and check the drive by placing a disk in it. if the drive runs non stop, then you have the ribbon cable backwards and need to turn the plug around.. then you are set with the change over..

Shut the PCs down, remove the covers, remove the 4 screws that hold the drives in, disconnect the data ribbon cables, disconnect the power cables, swap them and do the reverse to install them. You may want to check the jumpers on the drives. Note the jumper position on the drive and make sure when you insert the other drive it is set the same. Check the markings for jumpers on the drives because the physical position of the jumpers may not be the same!

Be real careful. In this cold weather you must becareful that you deshock yourself as the very 1st thing. There are a number of ways that you can do this, but as an IT with a computer company we touch a major part of metal on the computer to try to at least stablize our shock. Then reach in and pull plugs and put it back in. Generally memorize what it looks like and switch the drives out putting them wiring back just how you found it in the 1st place. If you shock the computer you could fry your whole system.
