They have already stated that i will feature online gaming, as well as this, there are plans to use the Wii as a "download status" such as the 600 "pods" currently available within the UK, to download samples of forthcoming DS games, exclusive items for games such as Animal Crossing, and even hidden levels, and video's of forthcoming games.
3 games which most people want to see online at the forthcoming Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, both penciled in at a Q2/2007 release in the EU, and also, the as-of-yet unofficially announced Animal Crossing, (though you can see hints of an AC game within the official pre-release Wii site).
Personally, I think an online F-Zero game would rock the world, and perhaps even Rune/Lost Kingdoms 3, maybe even a 1080 Snowboarding and Zelda game online, just think of the potential here, (and then Sony can copy it and say it's an "innovative" feature of their console).

I've heard the major online gaming release for the Wii will be Super Smash Bros. but I don't think that's coming out until later this year.

You better believe it. It's off to a slow start, a bit like the DS was, but there'll be tons of Wii games online soon. I think Pokemon Battle Revolution will be the first one, and it comes out in March. (I think.) Just a matter of time until we get lots.

The Wii is slated to begin releasing online games second quarter 2007! Unfortunately there won't be a lot of them, but yes, they will be there.

I don't think Nintendo really cares about online gaming because it doesn't believe that online gaming is the next big thing. I mean, look at the GC. Only 2 or 3 games were actually online capable.

that isn't any longer that Nintendo thinks on line is going to be a fad. that is a mixture of two different issues: a million) they trust on line play should be loose, yet are unlikely to really push it till they are able to looking a organisation form that makes it a possibility for that and would not create a loss for them. 2) they don't see on line gaming as a communal journey. And regrettably, maximum on line video games ignore about interior of reach multiplayer thoroughly.
