No, because there were no real damages to you. The loan company however could have him charged for attempted fraud. However if he pretended to be you to get the loan... then thats identity theft. Talk to a county prosecutor for guidance on criminal charges.... but it doesn't sound like you have a basis for a civil law suit....

Not really. If he would have gotten it you could have notified the lender that he has has no claim on your house or permission to do so. Then that itself leads to fraud, deceiving the lender using collateral that wasnt his. Then hes got real legal problems and you didnt have to spend a dime. The lender cannot come after your house as long as he never ever had permission to do so. I have to admit Ive heard of some son in laws doing some really pretty stupid things against their in laws but this is a first. He must be into heavy gambling or drugs to do so

anyone can sue anyone else for just about any reason...however....he obviously didn't get the loan and so no harm was done.....it would also be your word against his....and what's up with the fact that you just found out your dtr is no longer married to him.....something smells fishy here....are you just looking for a way to get some money doing nothing?????

You can probably sue him if it damaged your credit. Otherwise you can probably press charges for fraud and identity theft.
