I would like to create a model/prototype and in one section of my design I need to have a thin circle of silicone connected to the surrounding plastic. Is this possible or where could I get more info on this?

Yeah, I thought I might have trouble with the word "mold" when talking about models or prototypes - my bad! What I mean is seamlessly join/connect a round piece of thin silicone to plastic (of similar thickness) that will be surrounding it. Haven't decided how flexible or of what kind the plastic will be.

Yes, this can be accomplished, but not at the same time. You can encapsulate a pre-molded plastic part with silicone.
I assume you are talking about RTV type silicone that is a one part. There are also condensation (tin) cured and platinum cured. The plastics can be either thermoplastic which can be remelted and reused or thermoset in which a chemical reaction occurs such as an epoxy. Contact me and I'll send you more information.

Not sure what you mean by "molded" together... in a mold?

Also not sure what you mean by a circle of "silicone," but at least I can say that a 2-part silicone molding material could be used to create a ring of whatever size and shape you want, possibly in a mold of some kind while setting-up.

As for "connecting" it to plastic though, do you want to glue it or have it somehow attached without glue, or what???
(Not sure what type of "model" you have in mind too.)

If you think you might be interested in brand names and discussion of "2-part silicone molding mateials" though, check out this page at my site:

Good luck,

Get a methacrylate equipment! extremely of attempting a ABS restore use the better methacrylate. If the wanted tab isn't tremendous there is what's named a 'molding bar'. once you've an cutting-edge tap of proper length the thermally softened molding bar should be formed round a captivating formed cutting-edge tab, cooled and used to forged a captivating tap formed of methacrylate adhesive. once set the reuseable molding bar should be peeled away. don't think methacrylate aspects? ...Order some chrome metallic mesh and reduce or unwind stainless wires and forged them contained in the methacrylate for a restore area more effective than the bottom cloth!
