Sow Bermuda in early May. It needs heat to germinate and establish well. Do not put out pre-emergents with the seed. They will pre-emerge (abort) your Bermuda seed as well. You can use Roundup up until the day before you seed, but then you cannot use any herbicides until Fall. Weed seedlings along with the grass seedlings are just a fact of life in the early months of your new lawn.

The BEST time to plant Bermuda seed is in late spring / early summer after soil temperatures are 65-70+ degrees or higher and all danger of freeze or frost is past. This generally takes 80+ consistent day highs in temperatures to achieve this level of temperature in the soil. Sufficient moisture must be available during establishment. http://www.bermudagrass.com/info/whentoplant.html

You ask, ". . . can they be done together?" NO, NO, NO!!!!
If you do not plan to do any seeding of lawn grasses before fall, certain weeds, such as crabgrass, annual bluegrass, purslane, prostrate pigweed, knotweed, and others, can be treated with a pre-emergence herbicide to keep the seeds from germinating. This will prevent weeds from establishing this spring. Use pre-emergent herbicides only on established lawns, because they will affect most germinating seeds, including desirable ones. Although pre-emergence herbicides are used primarily to control annual grasses, they also help control annual broadleaf weeds, minimizing the need for control of those weeds later in the season.
