Contact your local Lowes or Home Depot and see what they charge, then look for a local handyman, or carpenter who does work on the side. In my opinion, the superstores rape you in labor charges, but they have to factor in insurance and wages. If you find a reputable carpenter, who does work on the side, it could be as much as half of what they charge. Ask around, and get several estimates, also don't always go with the cheapest one many times they may miss things in their bids. And never pay them up front, you can give a percentage of upfront money, but never the whole thing until the job is completed.

Julia. Although i can't help you on labor prices (simply because they vary from location to location, based on available skilled laborers, local wages, dif. types of companies etc.) i can recommend that you get a few estimates BEFORE beginning the work. Also, remember that the price is only ONE factor in deciding on a company. It is usally better to go with an established company rather than a one or two man band. Lowe's and Home Depot tend to hire out these one man shows more often for reasons i won't get into in this response. Check references, ask to see previous jobs, and ask about warranties, these can all be critical factors down the road that you would be foolish to overlook in the beginning.
Hope this helps.

Labor prices often factor in at about 50-55% of job costs.
If all the items you are putting in the kitchen cost $15,000, labor with be an additional $7500.
If you only have $15,000 to spend, then you only have $7500 for cabinets, fixtures, etc.
This isn't a hard and fast rule, but it is a guide that has shown to be pretty accurate over many years.

It will vary from location to location. The best advice I could give you would be to contact your local home center (Lowes or Home Depot) and ask them what they would charge. They are normally very competitive and they will give you a free estimate.
