Being content has everything to do with what you value.
If you value money, you won't be content until you have a lot of money. But, the question is, how much money is enough money to be enough money? Most people really don't answer that.
However, ultimately, I am going to die and can not take the money with me.
I believe the only way to be content is through Christ Jesus. The Bible says to repent of your sin (Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever taken God's name in vain? Have you ever looked at another person with lust? All of these are sin... and God *HATES* sin so much that He sent His only beloved Son to die on the cross [The Bible says that without blood there is no remission of sin] to take our penalty for our sin. Think about everything that you've done that is wrong in your life until it begins to crush you... and then look at the foot of the cross and cry out for mercy.). Once a person truly and honestly repents with contrition (and not in an experimental fashion) and places their faith and trust in Christ (which is not a blind faith, but a reasoned faith from Biblical text and extrabiblical (outside the Bible) historical record), God will regenerate them into a new person and will have a new nature. That new nature will want to do the things that please God and will hate sin (the very thing that put Christ up on the cross). This is not "religion," this is transformation.
Do I wake up every morning happy as a jaybird? No, God did not promise happiness, but the fruit of the Spirit (i.e., the result of the Spirit working in your life) is love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and self-control. With those one can be very content.
I do not mean to be "preachy" (though, it may have come out that way). You asked, and I answered. Many may disagree with this message as one person's opinion, but what one has to ask is whether it is true or not (two ideologies that oppose each other cannot both be true [though, they can both be false], no matter how much postmodernists want you to believe it can be). If it is not true, you can search for the meaning of life (and contentment) elsewhere. If it is true, it is the words of life. The ball is in your court.

I think a lot of people are not content, and even when u do find something that makes you happy for some people its just a matter of time until it does not make them happy anymore, and so they continue to look further. i sometimes feel like i am too continent, and i should not settle for less, and than i think about all the things i have and i think i am crazy b/c i should be way above feeling content. anyway the point it i think were all messed up. i guess its something your just going to have to work on, so good luck. I hope one day u find true happiness.

Once in a while But I try really hard to be content with What I have. When I think of others that have so much less, I know I have no reason to complain.

I read this sub so I would be interested to hear your opinions. I'm constantly trying to better myself in some way but I feel that I'm not actually living like everyone around me, that I'm merely observing life as it happens and not living myself. Can anyone relate?
