I know the school is hard but look at notre dame and how many african americans they have on their football team

just for those who dont know you recruit players. You dont have like tryouts in the school. So caoch K is recruiting mostly white players

2. you just made a comparison between Duke's basketball team (roster ~14 people) and Notre Dame's football team (roster ~90 people). Sure, the academic comparison is valid, and I guess I understand that you're trying to say that they're both programs with high academic standards and succesful programs, but look at ND football: Quinn, Samardzija, Zibikowski, Carlson.

4. In response to 'thumper' who posted above me, two words: "full ride". Yes, that's right, players at Duke get what's called a scholarship to play basketball so I doubt money is much of a concern for them. For the average student at Duke, certainly, but why would it matter if you're rich if you're going there for free?

i would say true, but have u looked at the female roster on the duke basketball team and in the past 10-15 years whut college basketball program has been the most prestigious, thats right duke. Also, the majority of the black players they do try to get either turns them down(oden,lawson) or in the past hops to the nba(bryant,livingston)or just dont have the educational requirements. Also duke does have some good black players they have recruited and have had succesful careers in the nba(brand,hill,maggete,boozer, and both williams)

It's the result of a vast conspiracy to try to lose games instead of winning so that the KKK can replenish their funds by the gambling winnings from betting on the blacker teams.
What else did you think it could be, if other than getting the best players could have been Duke's motives?

Perhaps not a lot of African-American players qualified for the team at the time of selection.

Because that is who made the team. Coach K get the best skilled players that he can find within the school. He has very strict guidelines for all of his player, and whether the team mate is white, black, purple or green, all players are held to the same expectations.

Duke is a private school , with higher academic standards than other schools of the ACC. With the higher academic standards, and being private, the cost of tuition is greater than other schools as well. if you take note of the players they have on their roster, you will notice that most if not all are from well to do families.

IT IS A HIGHLY RATED UNIVERSITY, BUT MAYBE ITS BECAUSE ITS SOUTHERN AND STILL HAS HARD FEELINGS ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR.
