Well what is real. To you real is what you perceive, so if you think something is real then it might as well be real. Remember, I think, therefore I am. The question of existence should not be brought up much. If you are happy with the things in your life, then do you really care if they exist or not?

I've worried about this before, especially since I began reading philosophical theories about existence.
The truth is, you'll never know for sure except to accept.
I can tell you right now that I do exist, and I sort of find it enlightening and reassuring that others besides me have worried about it to the point of discussing it on Yahoo questions.
There have been days when it troubled me so much that I felt sick about it and depressed.
But it'll be okay. Just remember that. Eventually, you'll stop thinking about it and/or it won't trouble you anymore. The mind can only think about an idea for so long until it finally lets it go, unresolved.
You should contact me via yahoo email (oh_guy_2006 at yahoo) about this. I'd like someone to talk to about it.

Well... this question is asked every couple of days on this forum. When I was a kid, I wondered about that. But it really does not matter if it is illusion or not. Either way the pain and suffering will seem very real, so your only choice is to go along and do your best or suffer the consequences. Painful and very unpleasant consequences if you break enough rules.

Read Descartes meditations, you'll understand the argument and underlying issues a bit better. While such an elaborate illusion could theoretically exist, the question of "why bother" is certainly a valid one.

If I were all there is to reality, what's the use? If I were the best that thought could perceive, how sad. There has to be more. I'm not worthy of the label infinity. Besides, if my thoughts were the building blocks of reality, I would sure be doing something better than this at the moment.

If nobody answers, does that mean that you really are the only being in the universe?
And what about a 4th theory? That this existence is only a dream you're having, and when you wake up, you'll laugh and say, "No more pepperoni pizza just before going to bed!".

Though not thinking it to be valid I have considered the theory
and now bring it to mind if I'm having trouble getting to sleep --
simply because it gets so complicated and confusing, I just
fall asleep. If perchance that don't work, try working with eternity
you can start by finding either end.
