doctor of ostheopathic medicine

Osteopathy is a school of medicine which assumes a profound, if not central role for the musculoskeletal system in health and disease. Osteopathy emphasises a holistic approach and the skilled use of a range of manual and physical therapies (Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, or OMM in the United States) in the prevention and treatment of disease, particularly, but not solely, joint, muscle and nerve problems, such as back, neck and head pain. Osteopaths (or Osteopathic Physcians or Doctors of Osteopathy (DO) in the US) often see their role as facilitating the body's own recuperative powers by treating musculoskeletal or somatic dysfunction.

CS has the best/closest answer so far.

My family rents to DO students at University of New England. A DO can offer all the services of a family practice MD. They can prescribe any Rx, have hospital privileges etc.. I know a DO who is an anesthesiologist.

Doctor of Osteopathy. They are different than an M.D. or medical doctor; however, I have gone to one for over 20 years, now. He's fantastic. Look up Osteopathy online for more info.
