My husband and I are trying to conceive, I am 3 months off of the pill. My last period was Dec. 31st and we have been trying all month, regularly. I took a Clear Blue HPT and it was negative, but I have been having tender breasts, bloating, hungry all the time, emotional... maybe just wishful thinking! What are the chances of a false negative? Anyone had this problem?

Late June/early July of 2005 I found out I was pregnant. We were so excited! We lost the baby a week later. We were crushed. After that I was taking a pregnancy test probably every month or every few weeks. I wasn't trying to get pregnant, but I was terrified that I might be pregnant again and lose the baby. I felt like I was ALWAYS showing pregnancy symptoms. I found out that I was pregnant this past fall and I am carrying a healthy baby girl! I said that to say this...the mind is a powerful thing. If you "think" you are pregnant, you will show symptoms or think that you have them. I would just take another test. Maybe it's too early and your pregnancy hormones aren't showing up. I kept 3 or 4 pregnancy tests in my cabinet. For this pregnancy my first test the line was faint, the 2nd test the next day was barely there, and the 3rd test maybe 2 days later showed up very strong. Good luck!

You are keeping yourself all uptight worrying about it and trying too hard. Just get your mind on other things and it will happen. If you had been on the pill for several years it may take a couple of years before your body will readjust and emerge back to its natural harmonal state too. When you do have sex with your husband you might also try doing it with you on bed and your hips/ buttocks elevated with pillows and then after he ejaculates stay on pillows and hold your legs up in the air 10 - 15 minutes afterwards to allow the semen to get into the uterus and began its journey searching out the egg. Also he should not wear underwear while you guys are trying.

Take another test and listen to your body. I took a clear blue test, it came out negative when I was very much pregnant. If your breasts hurt and feel tingly, theres a good chance. That's how I knew the test was wrong.

Definitely could be a false negative. I always had to have blood drawn to determine whether or not I was pregnant. With all my pregnancies, the HCG in my urine wasn't strong enough to detect. (I had to go through fertility with my second pregancy and take shots..so I know where your at!! They still aren't sure how I got pregnant with my first..a medical mystery I guess.)
