I just ordered the 128MB version from newegg, because they didn't have the 256mb available. What are your thoughts on this card for an entry level gaming device? Thanks!!!

compared to any intigrated video, its amazing.
I have a 6600gt, x1600, and 6800ultra. the 6600gt can handle any game, though it will not be able to run new games on high. it will however be able to run most games at the highest resolution for the clearest picture.

i have nividia 6600 gt
with 3.4 pentium with 1 gig ram
i am able to play all games ive tryed for ex bf2
but i do have to turn the graphics in the games to the lowest
one problem i had was the card seemed to want more power
even with a 400 watt power box i put in it causes a lot of heat
i run two box fans.

It's fine as an entry level gaming card. Not quite as good as the 7600GS, but can't be beat for the price. Certainly capable of handling most low-to-midrange games. For more demanding games, you'd just have to turn the detail down.

bro, lemme give you the best advice, we're on nvidia's 8th Generation now, and why would u wanna go 2 generations back to 6.

the purpose of owning a graphic card for most of us is play games, and wudn't us be happy if our graphic cards might leave the games into dusts and give maximum visual velocity ?? ask ur self ................. if yes, you made a wrong choice on choosin nvidia 6600GT, you should go at least with 7 series with a Nvidia 7600GT, which is still not the best, but give you more visuals and quality rendering comparing to 6600gt. Another thing that you're missing is purevideo decoder, which is proven on videos to enhance'em.

answer for you - yes, nvidia 6600GT was the king of hills once upon a time, and it wud still play most games on medium or a little above..... but won't give you the most visuals "the way its meant to be played" with the newest games.

would i recomend - sure, for newbies, and mediocore gamers who are looking for a budget solution.

hope my answer helped, good luck.
