obviously this was a major mistake and should they should be punished accordingly. the police and corrections officers are entirely responsible for anyone in their custody. if someone requests medical attention, the custody officers are required to provide it. i agree, if this indeed happened as alleged, they should be suspended or fired from their job.

I have had my abuse at the hand of police officers, and I understand how cold, callus, and unfeeling they have to be to get their job done. I disagree that the police officers are the problem in the news article. The entire police, city, state is at fault.

If someone is not trained to handle the problem, they have to do what they know. I can understand that I was not qualified to look up someones pants and tell if they should go to the hospital. I also know that often the police officer is in a position where they can not stop to attend to one person. I also know that a police officer calling for assistance that is not life and death to the officer is not supported well by the police district as a whole.

It is a good thing that I would not be on the jury of this person lessening to the law suite she has bought. HANDS DOWN I SAY SHE WINS; however the blame for this problem is far larger than any single officer or small group of officers.

If a police officer accepted at face value every excuse or complaint by people they arrest on outstanding warrants, then they would never get the bad guys to jail where they belong.
Ever once in a while some guy high on drugs fights the police and has a heart attack. Same kind of deal. If you are going to break the law, refuse to surrender to a warrant, then do not expect the police officer who has to take you to jail drive you to the mall first or to a Dr.'s appointment, or the hospital. Their job was to arrest a criminal and they did their job.

They should be fired immediately. We had the same situation in Denver. A woman was in an accident and taken to jail for a suspended license. She complained numerous times she was nausea us and her legs were numb. The cops ignored her and in the morning, 10 hours later she was dead in her cell from a brain hemorrhage. FTP.

SKEPTICS: The link is legit.

I think they should be sanctioned to the fullest extent of the law for denial of medical care while in custody.
