Make sure you have at least 3-4 onesies and 3-4 sleeper outfits. Next you'll need diapers, and diaper wipes. A car seat to take the baby home in. Won't need a stroller right away chances are that you'll be to tired to want to go to much of anywhere and most new moms don't want to share their baby with the rest of the world right away. Get some good bottles, baby shampoo, diaper rash cream, a thermometer, anything else is really not to necessary in the beginning. As long as you can feed, diaper, clean, and cloth the little one you'll be fine.

Anything with Barney still. I don't know why but that purple dinosaur keeps them glued to the tube. When they are six they will deny they ever liked Barney. I can understand it is a little difficult for me to admit I liked Michael Jackson back in the early 80's.
Sorry should have read your question better. Anything with lots of singing and dancing. Maybe the Jungle Book. Don't get anything with too much intense action that might frighten them. Little babies frighten a lot easier than adults or even older kids. My oldest daughter when she was little would leave the room fussing if you even said Spy Kids.

Baby Einstein & the Curious Buddies series by Nick Jr. are great. Your child will learn from watching or even listening to these. You will find that children pick up everything they hear so beware. Don't try to use movies too far from their demographic as the child can become hyper-stimulated and be more upset than amused.

Check out Baby Einstein. They are all great. My son started watching Baby Mozart when (HONESTLY) he was like 3 or 4 months old. He's watch it for like 1/2 hour (which is forever long for that age). It was great because I could clean up the house or make dinner or pump and he'd be completely content.
Besides, it's very stimulating and educational.

Baby einstien
He can watch them right now.
Look on ebay before you pay retail for them
You can find 4 or five of them in a lot for what you might pay for ONE new one.
Due to your son's age, who cares if the cover is missing or whatever.
As he gets older, TOY story 1 & 2, Mulan, hercules, shrek (one two and three),
The land before time series
