No strep will not go away without antibiotics. If you think you have it go get tested and get it treated right away.

Strep throat will go away without treatment in 7-10 days. Although it must be checked, as, if you have strep throat group "A", this opens the door for Rheumatic fever, which affectes the mitral valve of the heart. Group "B", etc will not cause this. The best way is to go to the Dr. and get a throat swab in the office and you will have the results immediatly.

It's a bit hard to believe that you don't know the answer to this, but if you truly have Strep, the ONLY way to treat it is with antibiotics... and if it is indeed Strep...and you do not treat it... it can turn into Scarlet Fever... and if you do not treat THAT... you can actually lose your sight... and next step would of course lead up to death. If you don't have the money to go to a doctor, go to a hospital emergency room...they have to treat you.
PS. Sometimes a person thinks they have Strep, when they actually have a bacterial infection... they pain can be exactly the same... but for the Love of God, get checked out.

As a healthcare provider I always order antibiotic therapy. Strep bacterial infections if not completely eradicated can harbor in the body and grow in places which can cause severe results. Strep likes to group and grow in certain areas...like heart valves. This leads to a very serious outcome, as you could guess. So, while it is possible for your body to kill the strep...we like to be VERY SURE that it has been killed...so we give antibiotics.

I have always been prone to Strep, and I have always had to use antibiotics to get rid of it. But also I have found out that now that I gargle regularly with Listerine, I have not had strep for over 3 years. Good luck =)

No. Strep is a dangerous infection. It can do serious harm if left untreated. But if you haven't been to the doctor, how do you know that's what you have? Go have a culture taken, and then you'll know for sure.

Please don't do what husband did and wait too long. He ended up with heart damage(mildly). Strep is also very catchy. I had it a few months back and had to stay home for 24 or 48 hours.

strep isn't bacterial, so antibiotics won't help. go see a doctor.

however, gargling with salt water will help your throat to feel a lot better in the meantime. the salt water desiccates the viral cells in your throat, which stays the soreness temporarily. but when you drink water or something with a very low solute concentration, the cells will become hydrated and your throat will feel sore again. so make sure to drink gatorade or gargle saltwater.
