I have no clue what a whirlpool water filter is bu I have triops and use spring water and they survive no problems! But I know one thing for sure you should not use a filter at all because the babies can get sucked into it.

It's been many years since I hatched and raised triops. I have no idea what a whirlpool water filter is. But if I recall correctly, doesn't the triops kit tell you to use something like bottled spring water? You shouldn't be using a filter at all because newly hatched triops are very small and will get sucked into the filter. What do the instructions say?

No filters until triops get larger about 10 to 12 days. In the meantime use a very small stream of bubbles from an airstone.
newly hatched triops are very tiny white specks which are difficult to see but they grow quickly. At about one week you can add a sponge filter if their tank is big enough. Start with a very small amount of water but slowly add a pint of declorinated water daily. Do a google search on Triops and you will find several web sites with more information.

When I raised triops I just used bottled water because the directions said so. I would not advise using a filter of any kind because the Triops can be very small.

i have never used a filter before. i use bottled water such as volvic. they should still live if you use filtered water as long as there isn't any chlorine in it. the triops should hatch within a day or 2 and you should be able to see them within the next couple of days. if you don't want to just use fish food when they are adults, you can feed them a slice of skinned carrot, a washed leaf of lettuce,a bit of blood worm or a bit of earth worm. i hope my info has helped.
