No, Pirates has always been fun for me. I think they just added Jack Sparrow anyways. I think he'd have a lot of fun and enjoy seeing pirates. Maybe get him some pirate gear (like maybe a pirate hat, hook, or something) and make him feel like he's part of the ride. Disney is really good at making kid-friendly rides, so I wouldn't be too worried.
It also says it's suggested for families with kids. here's a list of all the attractions recommended for families with kids:
Sorry, this first link I gave you was to disneyland. Here's the one for disney world:

No, I don't think so. Pirates is a really easy going ride. It is kind of like Small World, but with a pirate theme. The changes they made really aren't that big and don't make it any scarier.

I see young kids going on the ride all the time and so far have never heard any crying or anything like that.

I think that a four year old, especially a boy, will love the ride.

I don't think so. The beginning is a little scary with the image of Davy Jones but after that, all of the pirates are fun-loving! I have been riding that attraction since I was 3 and it never scared me. And I scared easily in those days - I couldn't go on Snow White's Scary Adventure, but somehow Pirates was OK lol. He should be fine.

I agree with the previous answerers that stated only the beginning projection of Davy Jones is the scariest part.

There is one more section that has a ship and a fort firing cannons at each other. If you child frightens easily, he may not like it. It is NOT extremely loud, but it doesn't last long either. After that it is the pirates singing. If he has seen either of the Pirates of the Carribean movies, it will be nothing for him.

No the ride is amazing. It provides a fun thrill ride for adults and kids. The special effects and awesome creativity allow for a great ride. I recommend getting a costume for your kid because it will only enhance the experience. Here is a website that sales excellent authentic and kids costumes for pirates:

There is only one point that you should probably cover his eyes. You will see a wall of smoke or steam that your boat will ride through. They project an image of a scary character on the steam. I covered my five year olds eyes. She was fine otherwise.
Have fun!!!!
