I'm running Windows 98 on my home PC and I like to keep my desk top nice and tidy. Is there anyway I can keep it from appearing on my desktop?

Right-click & delete ... it will ask : "remove from desktop" .... choose "yes" ....works for me.
(network options can be found in Control Panel)

There is a way I'm sure but I can't remember how to do it in Windows 98. I haven't used that operating system in years!

It shows up when you install a network card and networking components. It's supposed to be there in case you need to change a setting.

My advice - Get a new PC that runs Windows XP or the new Vista and stop being so anal about your desktop. I hate a messy desktop also but I just keep the icons at a minimum.

Right click your desktop / click on properties / click on Desktop tab / click on the Custimize Desktop button / uncheck the My Network Places check box / OK / Apply / OK & Presto

This works on XP and other operating systems are similar

you probable don't have a instantaneous adapter. flow to regulate Panel> equipment> Hardware > gadget manager seem at your community adapters. A instantaneous adapter will say so . you'll likely pick to get one. For a pc, the instantaneous USB adapters that comprise a twine and cradle are typically ideal because you may flow them round for ideal reception while not having to flow the computer. i exploit a Linksys WUSB600N MIMO. that is enormously expensive, although the determination is fantastic.
