I am interested in attending Fordham in the Bronx. I have a GED tho, Would I still need a high School Transcript and things like that.
I did poorly in school but just took the SAT and got great scores. What else would boost up my chances

If you have a GED it sounds like you have been out of school for awhile. Whatever you do, make sure that you address your poor grades in your essay. If you have a good story as to why you will do better in college -- then they may be willing to make an exception for you. High SAT scores and a convincing argument that you were not ready for college but are ready now can get you somewhere.

Don't be afraid to talk with the admissions office about this. If you live in NY -- see if you can get an appointment with people in the admissions office. Don't be afraid to ask them for advice.

Good luck.

I agree with Taranto especially about the part about having an interview with the admissions people. If you sound intelligent, have a great SAT score, and have an interesting life story, they might take you. You might want to try going to a community college for a year to prove you can do college work. See what the people at Fordham say. Good luck.

Fordham is a selective university. If you didn't do well in school it may be extremely difficult to get in. To counter your gpa, you must have top notch sat scores, outstanding recommendations, leadership positions on your resume, and an flawless essay. You can also type an addendum explaining why your grades are the way they are.
