knob that goes from blue to red (when I turn this knob there is no change in the temp.)or either the small AC button.(it seems to come on randomly, although it does NOT affect the temp.) I do have heat in the rear defroster. My dash is also a bit cracked so I'm thinking something may be loose in there! Thanks!!!

they are known for the cable coming off the controler assuming you have air coming out of the vent that is where i would start pull the cxontroler forward and see if the cable moves when you turn the knob
ps i am assuming you did check the antifreeze level in the rad?

Check your coolant level.... make sure it is full. If that is full then check your heater valve, which is inline with the heater hoses under the hood. Make sure the vacuum line is connected to the heater valve and the valve isnt frozen.
