the costs is about 5 dollars total, and if you go to your bank it would be free in most cases, the notarize can charge anything they like, but in most cases it about 5 dollars

Children are not like the title of a car that you can just sign over to whomever you want! The piece of paper your daughter in law gave you is worthless. The only legally recognized custody awards are those issued by a judge in family court. If you want custody then you will have to prepare a custody case and go to court. You would have to prove that you would be a suitable guardian. Expect to have to go through a lengthy legal process and spend considerable money on lawyers. In the mean time, you could try phoning the cops, but as you have no legal responsibility or authority for the children, they may want to get in touch with the mother.

Go to your bank; they usually have an employee who is a notary. Mine notarizes anything for me for free. Also, insurance offices are a good place to find a notary. Again, my insurance lady does it for free for me.

Per document, and set by the state. Just call a notary and ask them!

My bank will do it for free. Or do you know a Realtor? They usually have someone in their office who does it. If they are a friend they may do it as well.
