Yes it is, I think it would be worse in Edmonton than in New York!!
You have to go to a gym, do stuff, attend some classes or else to get to know people, or people from work may know more people and that's how you build your network
But it is even worse when you don't know anybody and you don't have money nor a job!!!
Which city are you at? if you are in New York, there is plenty of stuff to do to know people, just pop up by an university and enroll in a course you like, such as tennis, french language or something like that

No there is so much going on, museums, movies, parks, things to join etc. Everywhere you go you can meet someone new and make friends. If you live in a really small town there are a limited amount of people so if you don't like or don't get along with those few you have no choice. But with a place like NY with over 8 million people you have to find someone who is your type etc. Even just volunteering a local hospital or somewhere you will meet someone. Good luck!

definitely not. the advantages of living in a big city are that you get to meet new people all the time. Just go out to your local bar, library, coffee shop, book store etc. Plus you are always on your feet, so it hardly gets old.

I think its even more exciting if you are in a Big city and you can start from scratch meeting people and going to places you've never been to before- especially NYC!!!
Its not too hard to meet people, and its so exciting to go out, socialize, feel free to wander.....agghhh.....I envy you
Get out girl! Make friends, get dates, let them take you out on the town, wander during the day.......alone time is a wonderful time to reflect!
At least you're not stuck in some small hick town with only 3 things to do, 2 nice persons to talk to and 1 ordinary guy to go out with, and one big Walmart to hang out in.......
; )
Good Luck,
Stella!

It can be boring because there is a lot to do in large cities. But get out there and meet people...school, classes, clubs and groups.

That's why people try to be social and meet interesting new people. You just what to sit around your home town for the rest of your life hanging out with the same old yokels?

A city becomes a totally different place if you have good friends to explore it with.

Yeah it can be. I suppose it's mostly up to the individual though. Some people take themselves out and do things anyway and then inevitably they meet people.
