Here's a little quote from Oprah (you can really see that he's said this there's a video of it :D,)
I would be careful about all this other magazines.
I once even read an interview in a youth magazines where he "told" the interviewer about bringing his daughter Lily Rose to the movie premieres etc. (which of cause couldnt be true as you know how shy hes about pictures of his daughter :P) lol)
Well heres the part about this:
Mr. DEPP: That’s basically all I said. I might have said a little something…
OPRAH WINFREY: But there wasn’t a puppy–was it…
Mr. DEPP: …about the current administration.
So just the administration not America. ;) So and if you want to know why he's not satisfied with the administration, I guess you have to ask him himselfs. As far as I am concerned there are no quotes about that.
But maybe you can just inform you about criticpoints about the administration and see what reasons he MIGHT have to critisise it. Which of those things he actually didnt like he can only answer you himselfs.
And here the whole part:
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah. Yeah. I agree with you on that. So you don’t live in the United States, right? You live in–do you live–officially live in France?
Mr. DEPP: No, that’s the big sort of rumor. No, I mean, I spend most of my time on location, wherever I’m shooting. Like I’ve been in London for about eight months now.
OPRAH WINFREY: Was it last year you got in a lot of hot water for making a comment about the United States being a puppy?
Mr. DEPP: Right.
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah.
Mr. DEPP: Yeah.
OPRAH WINFREY: What did you say?
Mr. DEPP: What I said, which was…
OPRAH WINFREY: What did you say?
Mr. DEPP: …which was misinterpreted.
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah. Yeah.
Mr. DEPP: What I said was, the United States of America is a young country compared to Europe, compared to, you know, other countries. We’re young. We’re 200 and something years old.
OPRAH WINFREY: Right.
Mr. DEPP: That’s not very old.
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah.
Mr. DEPP: You know, we’re not thousands and thousands of years old.
OPRAH WINFREY: Right.
Mr. DEPP: That’s basically all I said. I might have said a little something…
OPRAH WINFREY: But there wasn’t a puppy–was it…
Mr. DEPP: …about the current administration.
OPRAH WINFREY: Oh, you might have said something about that. Yeah. So what was the puppy quote?
Mr. DEPP: But that was not…
OPRAH WINFREY: What was thing about America’s a puppy and…
Mr. DEPP: Well, yeah, America’s–you know, you’ve got to think of it like a–kind of like a puppy dog in the sense that, you know–but you have to–you know, in the sense that it’s very, very young, but you have to remember that puppies have very sharp teeth…
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah.
Mr. DEPP: …razor-sharp teeth…
OPRAH WINFREY: Oh.
Mr. DEPP: …and one must be careful.
OPRAH WINFREY: Now–and didn’t people–people came after you for that, did they not?
Mr. DEPP: Well, because, you know, suddenly the translation was that it was, you know…
OPRAH WINFREY: You’re not American.
Mr. DEPP: …America’s ignorant and, you know…
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah.
Mr. DEPP: …you know, why would I do that? Why would anybody do that?
OPRAH WINFREY: Yeah. That’s why I didn’t believe the quote when I read it, because…
Mr. DEPP: No.
OPRAH WINFREY: …I’ve been misquoted a couple of times myself.

He doesn't have a prolem with the U.S. He has a home in Los Angeles and his home state of Kentucky. When he is in the U.S. filming he and his family live here. When he is not here filiming he and his family live in their home on an island in the South of France, Ms Paradis is French and Depp's daughter was born in France. Or they stay where ever in the world he is filimg, I know they spent a lot of time in the Bahamas and Jamaicia when he was filimg Pirates. He has the type of job that takes him all over the world and he must make his "Home" wherever he is at. Besides even people in the U.S. have a problem with the U.S. lately...most notiably the politicians...So tell me to YOU really LOVE George W. Bush?

i hope these help:
"I am an American. I love my country and have great hopes for it. It is for this reason that I speak candidly and sometimes critically about it. I have benefited greatly from the freedom that exists in my country and for this I am eternally grateful." (2003)
"I would never be disrespectful to my country, to the people, especially the kids who are over there serving in the armed forces. My uncle was wounded in Vietnam, paralyzed from the neck down. I would never say those things the way they claim I said them." (2004)
"I essentially said the United States is a very young country compared with Europe. We're still growing. That's it. I wouldn't say anything anti-American. I'm an American, and I love my country." (2004)
"I would never insult the American people. I used the metaphor of a puppy dog, but I never said ignorant puppy dog. I said it’s a very young country compared to old Europe, or Asia. It was misinterpreted. I was talking about the government, and especially the current administration. Never about the troops, even if I was not particularly enthusiastic about going to Iraq or whatever. I love my country. But ****, if want to say that I don’t agree with the president’s choices or words or intentions, so what? Even if I had said what they printed - which I didn’t - what’s the big deal? Some actor blurts out this thing - who gives a ****? He’s an actor!" (2004)
"I called them, three or four people, and I said, ‘It’s very easy for a publication to print whatever they want to print as a representation of me, but it’s not me. If you would allow me just a moment to represent myself ... if you still feel like I’m a shithead or a schmuck afterwards, then fine. But at least hear me out.’ These were heavy, right-wing, military people: one was a cop ... one had a nephew who’d been wounded in Iraq. I told them, ‘What was printed was ugly, but this is what I meant...' And each one of them said, ‘I understand.” [response to hate mail and calls he received following the Stern article] (2004)"
"America is dumb. It's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive. My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."
"Taken in context, what I was saying was that, compared to Europe, America is a very young country and we are still growing as a nation. It is a shame that the metaphor I used was taken so radically out of context and slung about irresponsibly by the news media. There was no anti-American sentiment. In fact, it was just the opposite. I am an American. I love my country and have great hopes for it. It is for this reason that I speak candidly and sometimes critically about it. I have benefited greatly from the freedom that exists in my country and for this I am eternally grateful."
"France and the whole of Europe have a great culture and an amazing history. Most important thing though is that people there know how to live! In America they've forgotten all about it. I'm afraid that the American culture is a disaster."

Yeah, leave him alone. He hates to be bothered with. But Johnny probably doesn't care too much. He doesn't let the media get to him.

Every actor on the far left (which are many) hates America, take Gweneth Paltrow. Both should stay in Europe and the rest should follow.

I read somewhere that it was because of how Americans and the media are infatuated with knowing every little detail about celebrities lives and gossip. So thats why he now lives in France I believe.
Can't say as I really blame him

We're not exactly a good "world citizen". Iraq, Afghanistan, Cuba....we're not well-loved. He probably actually reads versus watching network TV like most Americans. My advice is read a legitimate newspaper and see what he's talking about.

He doesn't hate America. He's never said that. He's criticized the government, which is his right as an American. The media just puts their own spin on it, like they do with everything. Ratings, ratings, ratings.
