I've always appreciated George Harrison's music, be it with the Beatles, Wilbury's, solo, or guesting with The Heartbreakers.

Do you think he's underrated as a songwriter and musician thanks being in the shadow of Lennon and Macca? Or not?

Patrick - I'm a bit ashamed at myself for laughing at your answer! LOL!

No, sorry, John (for whom I also had a lot of respect) had a far, far, FAR worse nose than George. Anyway, I meant musically! :)

Do you know I always thought that. Every time the Beatles brought out a new single, he'd be using a sound effect that no-one had ever heard before.

Imagine the stress involved, having Lennon and McCartney singing you a new song for the first time. And you have to come up with a new, totally original guitar break for it.

I always thought the fact that he was "ordinary" was part of his char,m.

Harrison is sorely missed. Ever noticed that the Beatles are dying in reverse order?

for specific. My order of determination is John, George, Paul, then Ringo. in basic terms cuz Ringo is final on my record would not propose something. I nonetheless love the hell out of him. so some distance as their solo careers bypass John relatively took the cake yet George became right into a lot extra smart, introspective and musically stimulating than Paul via margins. i think of absolutely everyone that is familiar with something approximately this era will agree. yet yeah, what a uncooked deal on the songs. On Abby highway, as an occasion, he in basic terms did "something" and "right here comes the solar". do no longer those songs talk for themselves what an wonderful author he became into. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, he did write extra chord progressions than you in all probability be attentive to on the different songs. I agree alongside with your assertion.

He was exceptionally underrated. In objective terms, he was the most skilled of the group at his instrument and the originator of many brilliant ideas during the Beatles' period of experimentation, after Rubber Soul. Not as stunning as Paul or John, he was in a band where two bigger celebrities outshone him, and indeed, Paul & John tried to limit the number of songs that he contributed. But if you look at his songs during his time with the Beatles, or the superlative All Things Will Pass, you will see that Harrison was one of the greats :).

Best wishes!

As I get older, I actually think he was the most talented of the Beatles. The other two just had better PR men.

Yes, I appreciate some of his songs. Here Comes the Sun is a pretty song, George did a good job on it.

I think so, not only in his singing and songwriting but as a guitar player too.

however Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck are more superior guitar players than Harrison was.....

neither did Lennon & Mc Cartney as the best rock guitar player.
