I'm pregnant now and absolutely sure we don't want any more children after this one. My husband and I are trying to decide between a vasectomy and my tubes tied.

I was admitted to hospital in the morning and was home shortly after lunch...

your tubes are not cut and tied as such any more rather they are clipped with little plastic clips I guess it is a bit like whacking a cable tie around em...

:o)

I have had no side effects what so ever

I decided to have my tubes done because I was absolutely certain that no matter what I had definitely had my share of kids, my husband offered to have a vasectomy and I thought that maybe if we broke up he may end up with a woman who wanted a child and I knew that I would never want another child again..

As it turned out we did break up his new wife did want a child and now he has had his vasectomy....

My tubes getting done was the best present I ever gave myself

It is much harder on a woman to have her tubes tied than it is a man to have a vasectomy. I have had mine tied because my now ex-husband was too scared to go to the Dr and get it done himself even after the research was given on both procedures.
For a woman they are anesthetized the abdomen is pumped full of gas, and have a camera (laproscope) inserted through the naval then 2 small incisions are made just above the pubic line. For a man it is a simple office visit with local anesthesia. As in my situation coming out of the anesthesia was the hardest part I went into shock and had several shots to raise my blood pressure back to normal injected in my upper thigh with hours of grogginess afterward. Yet as with any medical procedure every person is different. Also since you are pregnant, now would be the time for your husband to get the procedure done that way he can be rid of all the potential "babies" by the time you guys are ready to have unprotected sex again.

Go for a vasectomy. It's much less invasive, therefore there is less of a risk of complication. The more complicated the surgery, the more unsafe it is. Getting tubes tied is still pretty safe, but a vasectomy is more the norm and easier. Just remember the vasectomy isn't immediate (like you can still get preggers within like two weeks or something).

I had a tuba-ligation after the birth of my daughter 18 years ago. The only problem for several months when I had my period I have terrible cramping. I used naprosyn to help. which almost stopped the cramping. The only thing. six years later I divorce my husband. Now my new husband would like a child. But I don't want to try I think its a little late and my new husband has children from past relationships. I guess my point is make sure you never ever want any more children. If I had it to do again I would not do it. Its just to final

For the woman to have her tubes tied is a major surgery usually using a general anesthesia. I had this done..took a few days to recover.
A vasectomy can be done with a local anesthetic. My brother and his wife opted for this... He was a bit scared about the idea, but it went well.
check the sources below, may answer any questions....
good luck with your pregnancy!!!!

It definitely is less invasive for your husband to get the vasectomy. When me and my wife have a baby, that's what I plan to do. If you think about it, if he has his vasectomy shortly after you give birth, then he'll be healed up and ready to go by the time you are. That way, nether one of you are waiting for the other to be ready to have sex again.

Personally speaking get your husband to have a vasectomy. I had my tubes done and the doctor stuffed up 2 years later I had to havea total hysterectomy because of it.

Vasectomy ; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps
