now might be a good time to add some security to your system
a firewall (just one)
a anti-virus (just one)
and some ad-ware and spyware removal tools (the more the better)
go to
http://www.download.com/PC-Starter-Kit/2001-12350_4-0.html?tag=dir
and download (if you haven't already) the first four programs listed
make sure you update all the programs
and run the removal tools on a regular basis

Sounds like you accepted a file for a game or something that you shouldn't have from someone. It sounds like netbus to me. I would suggest that you get rid of the offending file. If you aren't sure what it is, hit cntrl alt delete a couple of times and check the running programs. Any that you are not sure about, you can do a search for on google. Also, zone alarm would help block programs from coming in and out if you know what to allow and not allow. Don't accept files from folks and don't open email attatchments (the paper clip) Right now anyone out there that wants to can see that you have netbus or whatever it is and they can look at and see anything that you are doing on your computer. They can control your mouse, keyboard, etc by remote. good luck.

I kinda had the same incident. Maybe someone is trying to play a trick on you. Well anyways turn the computer off by pressing the power button for 5seconds or so then take it to a professional or where they sell computers like "Bestbuy" they'll fix it! And its cheap!! Goodluck =) By the way dont download anything because it will make it worst.

Take your computer into a professional. They will be able to get rid of them for you. You may need a new hard drive. You have to be careful of what you download on your computer. If you IM with anyone.....DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING THEY SEND YOU.That is how they get into your computer. They send you a worm. You need to quit trusting people on the computer. You don't know them. You will need to take the computer to a professional to get it fixed. Do it as soon as you can. This is how identities are stolen hon.

download a firewall program such as zonealarm (which is free)
http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html
if you want to be able to track the IP number of the hacker - the free version won't track it - but if you pay for a pro / premium version of zonealarm - you will have that function available - check the zone alarm site for other versions

Sounds like someone might be using a PC Anywhere type of program. If they are not causing damage then it might be someone you know and they are just messing with you.
Or a ghost, but there is a less then 99% chance of that . :)

Most likely you are infected. Run the 3 scans below.
Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from CA.
http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.
Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

Someone is remote controlling your computer.
Disconnect it from the internet for now.
Install a good firewall.
