If it's clothes, you really should see the tags on the clothes it will tell you how to launder them. I don't wash anything in hot water just because it uses more heat to make hot water thus making your electric bill go up. I wash most of our whites on warm/cold wash.

I wash all clothes in cold or warm water. I wouldn't recommend hot unless the instructions advise. They could shrink in hot water.

Take into consideration the fabric. Hot water can shrink some fabrics. Read the label. I use cold or luke warm a lot.

Whites go in hot, I also like to add bleach to keep them at their brightest! If you use bleach though, remember to put it in the special compartment where it goes so as not to put a hole in any of your white garments. Cold water for colors.

ok i do this and my clothes are fine and smell great!

Whites - HOT
Colors - warm

but if you wash all of your clothes together wash them in cold so the colors wont bleed
