That's a really fair question.

I clearly remember when OPEC shut off our spigot in the mid 70's - long gas lines, violence in the gas lines, maximum purchase when you did finally get to the pump - the president initiated wage and price freezes across the board and our whole damned economy was effectively crippled.

It's the ol' saying about how you don't miss the water 'till the well runs dry. This country runs on oil, period. Our infrastructure, production, transportation, home heating and an incredible amount of products all rely on the availability of oil.

This is what gives the Middle East its money, arrogance and power - otherwise, they'd just be dirt poor, third world countries still living in the 12th century.

The Americans who piss and moan about "blood for oil" or why the Middle East cannot fall into the control of some dirt bag radical simple don't have a clue - and worse, they'd be the first to whine if they had to share some public transportation with people who are clearly beneath them.

The reality is that if a country or group of countries purposely shuts down our economy - it's an act of war as clearly as if they simply attacked us.

There are 2 flaws contained in the oil-invasion idea. First, the cost of the invasion heavily outweighs the cost of the oil. second, the oil will be managed with assistance from American or Iraqi organizations which will promote the oil on the international marketplace; this makes the controller of such oil irrelavant. the merely results of the war on the cost of gas is contained in the steadiness of the area; ergo, a war between absolutely everyone in an 'oil united states of america' may have an result on gas value, no longer merely us invading Iraq. they say 'purchase on cannons, promote on trumpets' for good reason. With the type of oil professionals contained in the administration, i detect it perplexing to have self belief that they could base the invasion totally upon oil.

The war is about terrorism...the money from oil supports terrorism...real patriots will curtail the use of fossil fuel...Energy Independence is the very best way to shut down the terror factory in the middle east.
Strangely we have had the technology to "grow our own" fuel for about 100 years. Diesel fuel form plant sources was pioneered by G.W.Carver at the turn of the last century.

Sorry but this is a nonsensical question.

Venezuela are major suppliers of Oil to the USA, why don't Bush and his oil buddies stop buying oil from them because Chavez rightly pointed out Bush's frailities?

See, it doesn't quite work.

They say the next big wars will be water wars. I'll be waiting to watch you stop drinking water because bastard arrogant men are willing to kill your kids over that commodity everyone needs as they are willing to currently kill your kids over oil.

But, truly, the oil's only a part of it. This war has cost us billions and billions of unaccounted for dollars. Theft was the reason Bush did this.
