Neither, menstrual cups are far better than both.

You have a lot more options than just tampons or pads;

Commercial tampons – e.g. Tampax
Organic tampons – e.g. Natracare
Sponge tampons – e.g. Jade & Pearl
Soft tampons – e.g. Gynotex
Homemade tampons
Padettes
Commercial pads – e.g. Always
Organic pads – e.g. Organic Essentials
Cloth pads – e.g. Gladrags
Pad belts – e.g. Ready's
Homemade pads
Padded panties – e.g. Lunapanties
Period blankets
Silicone bell-shaped menstrual cups – e.g. Divacup
Rubber bell-shaped menstrual cups – e.g. Keeper
Softcups – e.g. Instead
Diaphragms used as menstrual cups
Homemade menstrual cups
Free-flow
Free-flow layering
Free-flow instinctive
Extraction

I use a menstrual cup specifically a Mooncup which is a type of bell-shaped silicone menstrual cup, they are the only safe internal menstrual option, they can be left in for up to 12 hours safely, hygienically and without leaking as well as used for sports like swimming, can be worn at night and can be worn before your period is due so you don't get blood on your underwear when your period first starts. They are also far cheaper, greener, and more convenient than tampons and pads.

If I had to choose between tampons and pads then it is obvious – pads – tampons are unhygienic and unsafe because of what they do to your vagina when you use them, as long as you use pads that are right for you then they are comfortable and safe.

Pads are better because of the toxic shock syndrom. But if you use tampons (the right size for your flow) and don't leave them in more than 4-6 hours, you're ok. Personally, a tampon with a panty shield is the best.

It comes down to personal preference. Some women use both depending on how heavy their flow is. From a strictly safety perspective, tampons can give you toxic shock syndrome. Pads don't carry that risk. It's not a problem as long as you don't leave the tampon in for too long.

If you use tampons you are at risk of getting TSS (toxic shock syndrom). You have a higher risk of TSS when using higher absorbancy tampons. Tampons are more convenient than pads but they are more risky.

Depends on the person and how heavy or light their menstral flow. If you have a lighter flower for a short period of time I'd say used pads. If your have a heavy flow, for a longer period, and dont have access or arent able to change pads often (dont know what your day-to-day life is)...tampons work better.

This is only my opinion. From having tried both in my time. I used only pads for awhile...because tampons hurt (I had just started my period...I was 14). I used pads for a couple years. It went fine. The down side. It can be messy, depending on flow you may need to change them out alot, the heavy ones feel like diapers (you get used to it). The plus side, its quick, easy and painless.

Tampons. I switched to tampons later. I realized it worked best (for me) to use tampons during my heavy flow days and just light pads during my light flow days. Tampons I felt were much nicer during heavier times. I dont have to worry about them if I cant change it out immidiatly...but do put a fresh one like every other hour...depending on your flow. I felt they were cleaner, easy to use, on heavy days they dont hurt to put in or out.....

Well I'm going on and on...
This is just my opinion as a woman. oh and I'm 22 now....if that matters
