I live in a townhouse & our next door neighbor is a heavy smoker. Somehow even with windows closed, the smell from their room manage to get in my closet and bedroom. I hate that my clothes smell like cigarette and I dont smoke and allergic to smoke. Aside from running the air purifier in the bedroom, I need some tips on how to keep my closet from smelling like cigarette smoke. Thanks!

The best thing you can do is seal off the wall from your side. I'd paint the wall with a semi-gloss or high gloss enamel paint. Shiny walls don't have pores, so no air or smoke will filter through the drywall. Flat, eggshell and satin paints will still allow smoke to come through.

Next, use a Quad clear caulk to seal off the top and bottom of your walls and your closets. You don't want regular white caulk because of the mess, and silicone caulks have a tendency to crack and peel away. But Quad (available from siding supply companies) is serious caulk that will seal off your side of the wall very well.

Lastly, if you keep a little pan of Arm and Hammer carpet deodorizer in the bottom of your closet it will both absorb smells and refresh what's already there.

I have the perfect solution for your problem. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a littler purple cube with an activated carbon filter inside that is really great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays. You probably should place a couple of them in your closet and around clothes and inside drawers and around the area. The carbon filter in this product literally eliminates the odors and works for a long time. I use this product everywhere including my closet drawers, storage, fridge and freezer and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it and it's not expensive. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying. It's the best product for any household odors.

I recommend an Ionizer. We use them at the Quality Inn I work at. We put them in the Smoking rooms to get rid of the Smoke and Smokey Smell. After about 20 minutes there is a very noticeable difference. I included a link for inexpensive Ionizers for homes and apartments. hope i helped

LOL to be young again! Leave the fan on and start spray somthing. Maybe take a shower to cover it up and then the smell of cologne will not seem out of place.
