I am thinking about doing track, and i have this question. I am a soccer player, a forward...but I am pretty muscular. I am around 5'6'' and 125 pounds. If i was intrested in events such as pole-vault, would that weight be to my disadvantage? Most runners appear to be smaller than me.

If you are fast and have some endurance and play soccer then a mile or less would be good. If you are strong pole vault would be also good!! During track season you could do both!! Talk to your coach and just workout!!!

well pole vaulting is mostly technique. you do need upper body strength, but if you dont have any technique you wont go anywhere. you also need to get a good running start, which prolly shouldnt be hard since your a forward. and your weight will be fine, all the pole vaulters on my team are 160 or above.

Well it depends if you have lower, or upper body strengh. if you have lower then it would cause a problem, cause in pole-vault you use pretty much you upper and if you weak in that area it could be hard to push you self up to the hight you are needed to go. If you have upper body strengh then you are completly able to do this pole-vaulting, cause you need upper body strengh to push you self up...as i said earlyer.. Hope my advise helped you.
