My daughter has been waking up about 3 to 4 hours after she goes to bed. I know its night terrors. She wakes up screaming and when eather me or my husband go in, her eyes are dialated and she is looking wildly around the room like she does not recognise us. Its like she is still in a dream. Is there anything we can do about it? We were told she was too young for medication and to keep her on a schedule. So far its not really worked.

Unfortunately there is not much you can do. most children out grow night terrors. In the mean time try to keep life as stress free for the little one. as possible. Make sure you stick to the normal as much as possible.

I use to give my son a wind down period where we would turn off the he then got a warm bath with lavender oil in it just to help him relax. we then listened to very soft music while I rubbed his back. until he fell asleep. It didn't cure all of it but he went from 3 to 5 night to only 1 or 2 in a week an after noon nap some times helps too

check out the website www.hylands.com They have a homeopathic remedy for children to help them sleep. It is called CalmForte for kids. I use alot of their products because they are non addicting and side effect free.
Also try a lullaby CD.
My son went through the same thing at her age and I ended up moving his crib to my room for a month or so and that helped tremedous!!!!! He would wake and I would just say it was okay and to go back to sleep and that was it!!!

Don't give her milk before bed. My husband and my daughter cannot have milk before bed because it gives them nightmares. Be careful what your watching on TV. They are very perceptive. Something we think is cool, she might think is a little scary. Like the grinch or scar (on the lion king)

My son had this same problem. He was actually still asleep, but it scared the heck out of us. He eventually out grew it.
