I am a Red Wings fan, so I am all about getting a crap franchise out of the east and moving them out west, so Detroit can play in the east. The rivalrys would be amazing and I wouldn't have to stay up all night to watch them.
I think Seattle and Milwaukee would be the most likey cities for a new team in the US because the populations, and even Kansas City as weird as it sounds (Missouri apparently likes their hockey).
In Canada, I would like to see Winnipeg get their team back even though the logistics seem to be against that.
The team I would most like to see moved from the east is probably Florida. Tampa has won a cup so they're legit and their uniforms are cooler (I know that is not a real reason). Beside, do the cubans really dig hockey, anyway (really, I am curious).
Just for the record, I would love to see the return of the Nordiques in Quebec, but ths only hinders my Detroit-to-the -east problem. Also, I like hockey in Pittsburg, so I don't want to see them go.

I think Quebec and Winnipeg need to get their teams back. Quebec was a season away from a cup, but they had to win it as Colorado. I think that city should feel robbed of a cup. And Winnipeg had a great fan base as well, when I saw the Wings play them in the playoffs, I could see the fans and players wanting it bad, not like most of the southern teams in the NHL today. If the city a team is in can't produce ice anytime of the year, they shouldn't have a team.

move - one of the sunbelt teams, say Florida, to portland. it does a few things: helps even out the conferences, more local rivalry ie vancouver portland, and they already have a junior team so imagine building up the grass root systems even further & introducing more US fans to the game. the portland winterhawks sell out every game, 8000+ people every game. it's so good of a business Brian Burke bought into it. say what you will about Burke, but he's a very shrewd businessman.
Vegas is intriguing. but gambling would indeed be a problem. however, it could bring some high profile people to watch games & that'll draw more attention. can u imagine if NHL has a public figure attending every game like Jack Nicholson does NBA?
C'mon people, it's time to let go of the jets, there just ain't enuf big businesses to sponsor the team, in terms of advertisment dollars & boxes, etc. i wish there was, but there isn't. let it go.
another intriguing market is seattle. there's enuf of a population, plus there'd be natural rivalries with vancouver, calgary & edmonton. imainge if they moved 2 teams to seattle & portland. wow, that'll be like the LA area w/ 3 teams. awesome for games & evens out the conferences.

Put the teams back in their original locations or at least put new teams there (winnepeg, hartford, quebec, etc.). Look at what ottowa has become. Bring back the tradition. Teams should be where people play, watch and care about the game, not phoenix, carolina or florida. Also if the ducks could be moved off the planet that would be great :)

If you bring back Winnipeg and Hartford it will be okey.
With all due respect to the American south... why the hell do they have 5 hockey teams. I'm not saying bring them to Canada but at least to a part of the states where people are into Hockey. Hockey has so much to compete with down there. Move at least two of them.

no to Wisconsin and a big NO to Las Vegas it would never work.
Phoenix back to Winnipeg, Florida to Quebec, Carolina back to Hartford, and get rid of the Duck, Sharks, Bluejackets, Predators this are not hockey markets and the owners have been losing money for years, that's why a salary cap is in.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm a big fan of a second NHL over in Europe.
But, since that is a long shot, I'd like to see a team in Portland or Seattle or even Wisconsin.
I don't think Phoenix or Carolina deserve to have teams. Attendance records show that, and Carolina is the defending champs!

Winnipeg should get the penguins or predators
Pittsburgh doesn't respect Crosby like they should, and Winnipeg would
Nashville doesn't get enough people to sell out a junior game in Canada
Bring Back the Jets

Seattle, if they can get the new arena built because it'd help the West Coast teams with travel. Plus Sea has $$$ (Microsoft, Boeing, Starbux, Amazon, etc.) and a good hockey base (the city draws well for WHL jr as does nearby Everett and Portland).

Hamilton ON or Winnipeg, both already have NHL size rinks and both would sell out easily. You don't have to find fans in either the fans are already there waiting for the chance to have a team of heir own.
