Congratulations: Yahoo should use your question as a form >how to correctly pose a question in this category.
Th only thing missing that would have made it perfect is, how many days are you staying?
I did some checking on my favorite sites for Las Vegas room rates. I assume a stay of one week(7 days) beginning on the 21st of September. I will list the average daily rate in dollars and the hotel. It should be fairly easy for you to do the exchange rate since 1 pound will get you very nearly 2 dollars.
These hotels are on the North end of the strip
Stratosphere - $61.71
Riviera - $76.14
Frontier - $97.29 >1br suite
Center strip hotels
Barbary Coast - $100
Flamingo - $155.71
Bally's - $159.00
Harrah's - $165.43
Paris - $187.57
Off Strip
Orleans - $86.00
Platinum - $167.57 - 900sq ft - 1br suite - 2 blocks from the center of the strip, behind Bally's, on Flamingo Dr.
The Barbary Coast and Orleans will price match any online room rate you find for their hotels. The Barbary Coast has a great location.

Paris, Bally's, Harrah's and Bally's will also price match, and will beat that rate by 25%, but you have to jump through a few hoops, they don't make it as easy as the Coast hotels.
http://www.harrahs.com > to check them out and read the price match guarantee rules > These would all have the location you're looking for.
>Paris has rooms that overlook the Fountains of Bellagio.
The Orleans is located West of the strip on Tropicana. It's one of my favorites and probably the best hotel value in Las Vegas. Rooms on the 15th-19th floors, 02-44(even #'s) have an awesome view of the strip..
Travel sites I use
http://www.travelworm.com >all the rates above are from this site
http://www.i4vegas.com
http://www.tripres.com
http://www.vegas.com
for hotel reviews
http://www.tripadvisor.com
http://www.cheapovegas.com
best site for LV info
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com >up to date info on shows, buffets, activities, links to all LV hotels , etc.
If it were me, I would hold a room now, at the hotel of your choice. Then keep on looking right up until flight time for a bargain. You can always cancel the reservation if you find a great deal. By holding a room now you are covered in case room rates don't fall. Of the six hotel above that will price match, (IMHO)Paris is the nicest hotel and Barbary Coast would be the best Value

100 British pounds should be plenty. The time is good because summer will have just ended and it will be just before the convention season. I suggest you also check out Vegas.com. Many times they have prices less than the hotel web sites themselves. It has been said that the best value for the money was the Stratosphere because they are just north enough of the strip that they have to put in extra incentives to get people up there.Otherwise any place on the strip will be good. However, I suggest you check the Yahoo travel web site and see comments for the hotels.

September is a busy convention month. So rates tend to go up. the nicer ones go way up, the middle ones arent so bad.
Tropicana and excalibar are the best for low rates and decent accomadations. Ballys may offer some deals, also check out the Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is nice, clean and not too busy.

i usually stay at the Monte carlo.. its a nice hotel thats usually cheeper then the other big ones.... and its right on the strip next to mgm and new york new york... Keep this in mind when you book a hotel. First go ahead and book the hotel online. ( a month befor your trip ) Then keep watching the online rates as it gets closer to your travel time. You can call and let them know that you see the online rates went down and they will adjust your nightly rates to the cheeper rates. I do this everytime now and i save alot of money..... They usally start high with the rates and bring them down when it gets closer to the date.... so they can fill the rooms... Hope this helps... Have fun in Vegas!!!! Look at the calander of rates on there website!!! Also... you can allways cancel your reservation 48 hours prior to your stay

The best places on the center strip for not to much money is Treasure Island and Bally's
I always am doing price checking and they are nice hotels with decent rates
Harrah's is also not too bad for great location
and suprisingly monte carlo has great rates for the level of service it provides

I would try a Station Casino they are off the strip but have a shuttle butt to take you to the strip and back if price is important for getting a good deal . If you must stay on the strip try the Barbery Cost. here are their web addresses.
www.stationcasinos.com
www.barbarycoastcasino.com
You can check prices on line.
