I cut them off folks all the time. Not difficult to cut them off, especially if they have a very narrow (2mm-3mm) base. May be a bit painful and less accurate to pull them off. If you don't get it all off it could come back.
Before I cut them off, I clean the skin thoroughly with alcohol or providine/iodine (Betadine). Then inject a small drop numbing medicine at the base. Then just put the tag on a bit of tension and cut right below the tag. According to some patients the numbing medicine is worse than just cutting the thing off (without the anesthetic).
Each tag has a blood supply that can usually be controlled by direct pressure (5-7 min at least). Then cover with a layer of antibiotic cream (Triple Antibiotic, Bacitracin, etc.)
If you don't have the equipment to cut it off (a sterilized box-cutter razor blade works well) I've had some tell me they numbed the area up with ice, then washed it off with alcohol, then snipped it off with sterilized fingernail clippers (sterilize by soaking in alcohol). It's still going to bleed.
If the tag has a large base it may need to be stitched closed after removal. You should go to a doctor to get this done.
Or, you could just go to the doc to begin with.
Good Luck.

I picked a mole off of my face before and it grew back. I have heard it's dangerous to pull off skin tags because it supposedly can cause cancer. You need to have it surgically removed to assure it is truly gone and is done in a safe method...

I used sterilized toe nail clippers to remove one. I wouldn't mess around on your face, but on your thigh is no big deal. If you had it done at the doctors they would just take a scalpel and cut it off. It certainly isn't major surgery.

Yeah. Cut one off with sharp razor blade after letting it sit in rubbing alcohol. It didn't hurt because the razor was so sharp, but it bled profusely. Probably not the best idea i've ever had.

This is not a good thing to do. Have it done by a dermatologist. You could cause yourself some serious pain not to mention the risk of infection.

Ive never been brave enough to pull one off, but I have tied them tightly with cotton until they dropped off. Much less harrowing!

when I was little and my grandmother had me in her arms, I pulled one off her neck because it looked funny. She said it hurt at first, but she said she was gonna go to the docs to have it removed anyway

Yes, they take alot of effort to pull off and bleed. Don't think you are supposed to do it, but they are so darn annoying!
