I get pretty frequent UTI's and usually go away on their own. I was just curious if there are any at home treatments other than the ones I have been using. Sometimes what I do works, other times it doesn't.
What I have tried:
- 100% cranberry juice
- cranberry suplement
- over the counter meds
- drinking lots and lots of water

Their not necessarilly reocurring. By frequent I mean I might get one every two months. (I just assumed this was more frequent than the average). I do take a cranberry supplement regularly also.

Ok, firstly you're on the right track with the cranberry juice and drinking lots of water. These are good preventatives.
Once you get a UTI however, usually you need an anti-biotic. In fact, it could be that you are merely suppressing the outbreak and it is coming back full surge now and then...making it *appear* as they are frequent.
If this isn't the case, then here are some other preventative approaches to take :
- Urinate before and after intercourse. The act of intercourse causes an upward peristalsis of the urethra, which is a good way for bacteria to move up to the bladder.
- Shower vs. bath.
- Remember to wipe front to back, E. Coli which resides in the colon as your normal microbiota, is a usual cause of UTIs.
- Make sure your sexual partner is clean. If they have poor hygiene then they can be introducing bacteria to your perineal area. This includes their hands.
- Grape juice has the same effects that cranberry does if you get tired of cranberry juice!
-If prescribed anti-biotics, make sure you take the full course.
This really is a serious issue with the reoccuring UTIs. I would see a gynecologist if I were you. Frequent UTIs can cause Kidney damage if the bacteria travel up the ureters. Trust me, you do not want Kidney damage.

Looking for UTI treatment? Don't worry, treatment is quick and easy.
Simple Infection
For simple UTI, antibiotics such as Amoxicillin, Ampicillin, Ciprofloxacin, and Levofloxacin are prescribed. Symptoms usually clear up after a few days of treatment, but you will need to keep on taking antibiotics for at least a week-maybe more.
Frequent Infections
If your UTI happens frequently, doctors usually recommend longer courses of antibiotic treatments. You may be asked to take a bring-home urine test. If your infection is connected to sexual activity, you may be asked to take antibiotics-usually in single dosage-after intercourse. If you are post-menopausal, you may be asked to undergo vaginal estrogen to reduce your risks of coming down with UTI repeatedly.
Severe Infections
In severe cases, UTI treatment could involve hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics.
The good news is that UTI is completely preventable. Through simple lifestyle changes, you can minimize the discomfort or say goodbye to the infection for good! Here are some of the things you can do to prevent UTI.
1. Drink Lots of Water - This dilutes the urine and flushes out the bacteria.
2. Avoid Drinks That Irritate the Bladder - Try to reduce your intake of alcohol, soda which contains citrus, and coffee. These drinks irritate the bladder.
3. Drink Cranberry Juice - It's not clear precisely how cranberry juice fights UTI. What is clear, though, is that some studies have shown cranberry juice minimizes the burning feeling during urination.
Do not endure UTI pain unnecessarily. Take steps to prevent the infection. If you already have it, however, find a UTI treatment that works fast and works best. Learn all you can about the infection so that you can prevent it, fight it, or make sure it never happens to you again.

they have an over the counter pill this is meant to help it supply up hurting. in spite of the undeniable fact that it doesn't remedy it, perchance you may want to take this pill if you're eating your cranberry juice and water to help the burning. hang IN THERE! be particular you drink your 8 glasses of water an afternoon, too.
