Should we ban divorce?

Question

Should we ban divorce, or ban divorcees from remarrying because they are immoral and hurting the institution of marriage?

I think we should work to get a divorce ban on the ballot in every state. It will stipulate a divorce cannot be granted unless abuse was involved.

We cannot allow these immoral people to devalue marriage any longer.

If we shouldn't ban divorce, why should we ban gay marriage?

So-crates, you hit the nail on the head buddy. These people want to enforce laws that only protect themselves, not anyone else that might be affected. I think they SHOULD either BAN divorce or give back marriage rights to gays. It's one way or the other, people. Otherwise, you're hypocricy over the "sanctity of marriage" will be visable to the entire world which will create a shift in the power structure. My guess is that in 30 years because of this, gay marriages will be allowed in several more states just because we can all see what @ssholes Californians are. LOL.

So you are saying it would make more sense to keep people in loveless, terrible marriages that will most likely affect any children they have and ruin their lives just to preserve the sanctity of marriage??? Sometimes people change over time and just are not compatible anymore. I am not talking about people like Britney Spears...I mean people who have been married for years and then grow apart. People are supposed to have more rights as a result of living in the US not fewer rights.

I do agree that alot of people rush into marriage without necessarily giving it alot of thought...I just feel that morality seems to be getting too involved in politics.

You are entitled to your beliefs but don't try to impose them on everyone else...

Giving an honest opinion, don't mean to be offensive ,I think you peoples should promote marraiges first !!! as many of the western peoples don't believe marriage and thats why the rate of unmarried mothers is increasing in your society........and yes after getting everything legal do think of getting divorce less common, as there is 70% rate of single parent among black and 35 % rate among whites.....and i think its a realy suffering for your kids!

I strongly favor divorce because it gives couples who are no longer fit to live together to start anew and have their lives back.

I have seen the other side of the coin, so I know what I am talking about. You are too young to even think about banning divorce.

I don't know about banning divorce, but I think there's a whole lot of people getting married that don't have a clue what love is or what it requires. People who don't understand what committment is will never stay married. That's for sure.

Infidels deserve to be as unhappy as you are being married. It is impressive to be at a fifty year anniversary of a mar rage. It is a feeling of pride. I hope people find the right person but, what if you were wrong, does that make life end. I think you are a bit extreme here.

No, People shouldn't have to stay in a miserable marriage, it hurts the kids and it hurts the married couple. Life too short to be confined to prison.
