I think governments should have just enough power to keep order, and no more. The people should be able to make their own choices, yay democracy! I think governments should have the power to fairly punish wrongdoers, make laws (with the approval of the people) and also they should be able to change their government style whenever necessary (once again, with the approval of the people).

ive researched alot in this topic, because i too am in touch..at first. the myan calander doesnt deliver about 2012. it RESETS into its maximum recent cycle. (the sixth one)...this can b.e a good signal, it could be telling us that certain the international will change. yet why does that would want to be undesirable? perchance it will be for the more effective. reseting isn't a demonstration of the proper. its a demonstration of the hot starting up, which i imagine is tremendous! each and every thing about the flicks "understanding" and "2012" its all only a gaggle of bullshit, attempting to get peoples funds. also the bible says that there'll be a pacesetter for seven years. and on the 0.33 year he will betray us. and thats the proper of the international. i cant look to narrate that to any chief i understand if.. nicely fairly im searching ahead to 2012 as a sparkling starting up...and thats how i imagine all and multiple else might want to imagine of it..desire i helped! =)

Come on -- the question was asking for YOUR opinion. Don't just cut and paste our opinions. This is an interesting question that you should really think about. What do you really think the government should have the right to do.
Should it be able to:
* tell you what to eat?
* what you should watch on TV
* how much you should spend on McDonalds
* arrest criminals
* what time you should go to bed
* what type of underwear you should wear
You can do it -- think about what you would do if you had to set the government up. How much power should it have? And what powers would you leave the the individual? It's a good question that if you think about it, you'll enjoy answering. There's no right or wrong answers, so have fun!

The govmt should :
Be able to make decisions and to act upon those decisions to keep Americans safe from foreign invasion.
Create and enforce laws that keep or protect the people from harming each other physically or financially.
To create and enforce a FAIR taxation system which is understood by the common people, created by the common people, agreed upon by the majority that will ensure our highways, roads, streets, police force, military, etc. are well maintained, stocked and compensated.
Anything else is too much power and leads to the waste we see today.

1. Government should protect property rights. Your neighbor should not be able to take your house from you without paying you for it.
2. Government should ensure the basic essentials of life for those who are too weak to take care of themselves (i.e. children, the old, and the sick).
3. Government should protect the rights of it's citizens from the powerful. For example, a large company running a factory shouldn't be allowed to pollute ground water that the local residence use for drinking water.
4. Government should hold and protect public lands and property. For example, National Parks should remain public and be maintained, and not be privatized or sold.

A government should have the power to rule the people in a way they want to be ruled.
Democracy is a good example.
Remember why the Americans had a revolution and seperated from Great Britain. Because of no taxation without representation.
You have to represent your people.
Also, they have to have things that same eye catching that would motivate people to want to stay on their lands.

The US government has only the powers and responsibilities outlined in the US Constitution.
The primary responsibility is national security/homeland security. The second responsibility is control of interstate commerce/traffic.
Where traffic or commerce or people cross state borders, neither state can control the other, so the federal government has to control both. Just imagine, if you can, Nebraskans taxing Kansans for crossing a border and using Nebraska roads.

The government, by way of representative government, should be able to: declare war (by way of necessity), negotiate treaties (with other countries for the benefit of their citizens), levy taxes (to keep a stable infrastructure), write laws (to keep chaos and anarchy to a minimum), and pass judgment (in courts of law).
hope this helps =)

1-Protect borders
2-Wage wars of self defense
3-Protect the rights of the citizens to do what they want with their bodies and property just as long as it doesn't interfere with the rights of others to do the same.
PS. if you read the writings of Jefferson, Adams, Franklin et. al.
They will basically tell you the above in much more eloquent language.

I think that the should be able to do more to career criminals instead of allowing the constant appeals and wasting tax payers money.
I think they should be allowed to completely lock down our boarders if they feel there is a threat......just allowing U.S. citizens back in and no one else.
They should be allowed to export illegals without a bunch of procedures.......you don't belong here then out you go!!
In the long run these things should save alot of money
