Go onto www.thetimesonline.co.uk

Click on Education which is under lifestyle across the top.

The look for 'GOOD UNIVERSITY GUIDE'. Click on that.

The look for full subject tables.

From that table for medicine they say these are the top 20 in order (the numbers at the end are the number of UCAS points required)

1 Cambridge 553
2 Oxford 537
3 Imperial College 477
4 Edinburgh 499
5 Manchester 485
6= Glasgow 479
6= Nottingham 499
8 Univ Coll London 462
9= Southampton 451
9= Liverpool 459
11 Newcastle 471
12= Sheffield 463
12= Dundee 471
14 Leicester 456
15 St George's 436
16 Birmingham 478
17= Cardiff 442
17= Bristol 442
19 King's Coll London 435
20 Exeter 439

There doesn't appear to be tables for the other two, but i hope this table for medicine helps!

The best thing to do would be to find out which universities offer these degrees (look in the UCAS Handbook / website) and then look at each university's website and/or prospectus you are interested in.

In any subject the level of the entry qualifications are a fair enough guide to how popular the course and the university are. But you should not just think of applying universities on a perception of them being "best" or by looking at league tables - these are just one source of evidence to help you make your decision. Yes, reputation is a factor but is it also open to interpretation - the most important thing is to apply for courses that you are interested in and to universities that you would like to go to and you feel you would be happy at. The best way to do this is to get as much information as you can and also visit them and talk the teachers, current, and - if you know of any - former students.
