Yes, you should join. I was secretary of the National Honor's Society at my high school. It looks really good on a college application. It shows colleges that you are intelligent and involved in the community. Normally the NHS does various activities, and ours did a community service project, which also really looks good on a college application. It's your choice, but normally it's not a big time commitment, and I think you should join (oh and they don't want your money... I think someone else said that... I don't think it costs anything... unless there are some dues to raise for the community project, and then it's going to a good cause)

Guys, this is NOT the same as the National Honor Society in your own high school, not even close- THey say they have 12,000 members and at $45 each that is over 4 million so big deal if they give away $300,000 - THat's nothing-

THis is nothing more than a very week resume filler that any college would see and know it was paid for- Makes you look weak scholastically more likely- Stay away.

This is NOT the National Honore Society (NHS), the long standing and well respected honor society that probably has a chapter at your high school. I think they are purposly trying to look like NHS and collect your membership fee, not to mention all the certificate ad on fees that they would like you to purchase. They thing that annoyes me the most is that their logo is even designed to look like the NHS one, and it is very, very close. I think it is just one step up from a complete scam!

My son was in his high school National Honors Society. He did everything through his school. It is an honor if you are in it, you worked hard to achieve this accomplishment. My response is that you do not have to reply to mail you receive for this. Everything is usually done through your high school. Definitely join if you are entitled to.

I think you should join. It will look great on a college resume and also you will probably have access to a lot more scholarships than others. It was a regret of mine that I didn't/couldn't join. I think you should do it, no doubt about it!

Yes, you should join. Colleges love kids who are on NHS. It will also help you if you're school requires service hours, because at least at the branch at my school there is a lot of volunteering involved.
